Warming up is important. It will raise the core temperature of your muscles, helping to prevent injury and reaching full potential. Warming up should not be optional. If you want to do your best you need to warm up... end of discussion.
The issue I have is some people spend far too long getting ready to practice. (Sorry BH) A while back I observed a practice for a school I use to coach. They arrived at 3:30 and by 3:45 they started their warm up. It wasn't until 4:30 they started their running. In all, it took them 45 minutes to warm up. They were most likely done at 5 or 5:30, which means they spent roughly half of their practice preparing to practice.
My philosophy is the more repetitions you put in fixing technique, the quicker someone will progress. If you are spending half of your time getting ready to do those repetitions you are missing out on a great deal of volume.
A quick solution is to cut out the general warm up routines and implement something more specific. I'll explain further in another post...
