I spend a good deal of time just wandering the internet at work. I have two part time overnight jobs. Needless to say I have plenty of time to waste. One of my favorite tech sites, Makeuseof.com suggested Dropbox if you are using multiple computers or want to store important stuff online.
To put it simply, Dropbox is amazing. You can upload and install up to 2GB of programs / files for free. But it’s not like other online storage programs. It features a folder which is put onto your computer. Just save the items in your computer’s dropbox folder and it’s automatically uploaded to their online database. It is then downloaded onto other dropbox folders, like say your laptop.
I’ve had it almost a year now and I keep finding new tricks. I have it loaded on my desktop, netbook and iPhone so I always have my work outs where ever I am. My athletes have argued something wasn’t on my work out sheet. All I had to do was pull it up on my phone to prove them wrong.
I use to use a flash drive to print stuff off in the college computer lab. Now I just go to the website, download the file I want to print and I’m all set.
The latest feature I discovered is shared folders. I set up a folder that a person or group of people can see. I can put my work outs right in there so my athlete’s have them in a folder on their desktop. I don’t have to wonder if they got the email and printed it off. I’m invading their personal space with my information now!
You get 2GB for free, 50gb for $10/month and 100gb for $20/month. It’s an awesome program and makes life a hell of a lot easier when you are on the go.
