Shot Put Glide Analysis 03 [Frame by Frame]

Here's the continuation of Shawn's throw.

Eh, I don't think the left leg HAS to come all the way in to unseat properly.  It's just going to be more odd to do without it coming all the way in.  Probably easier too, why do I argue with myself, I'm right.

I don't think I stress how important the unseat is and how badly he's missing it in this spot.  If he sat more in the back he would have pushed himself across the circle, instead he's basically jumping up and hoping his left leg pulls him out of the back.

Here's a "full of shit" moment.  If someone had this moment in a bar you'd happily point them out and call them stupid so I'll do it for you.  "It's a law of physics," ugh I'm an asshole.  Gravity is a law of physics, not that both feet need to be on the ground to move how else would you walk stupid?

Ok now that I'm done beating myself up, his BIGGEST problem was that he was floating his left.  This doesn't look as bad as the video I had with Rob but it's not seen clearly in a frame by frame setting (glad I did a video breakdown).  What he would do is hold his foot in the air, wiggle it around quickly and then once he weight shifted left he would place it down.  So while he was in the right position to get his left down and post over it, he left it in the air (very odd looking too).  He started to fix it and was throwing 50 shortly afterwards.

Ya, I notice it too, so I over estimated should have said it will add 1-4ft (I think it added 3).  I'm an asshole trying to impress the senior thrower so he tells his head coach to hire me, shhhhh.

Anyways picking up where I left off from the last frame you can see here he looks just like Andy did but looked much better over the duration of the throw than Andy.  That's because of how they both used their lefts.  They waited to put it down until their weight crashed down on it and then couldn't use their right because their rights have nothing to push but air.
