Strength and Conditioning Research
Chris Beardsley (shameless plug alert), the guy who graciously interviewed me. Still not sure why as I'm 100 iq points below most of the other people he's interviewed but I'm honored none the less. Anyways, he teamed up with Bret Contreras to created a monthly research review service called Strength and Conditioning Research.
I first started reading Chris' stuff because he had this amazing series on Personal Training. I struggled in Anatomy and Physiology in college (one of 2-3 classes I worked my ass off in but barely passed, I'm smart and lazy) and after reading Chris' series he explained things clearly and included new research. I fell in love with this blog and I've been a regular reader ever since. I think that was a little over a year ago now.
If you haven't heard of Bret Contreras by now I don't know what you've been doing. He introduced us to the hip thrust and suddenly everyone is doing or advising to do them. I'll admit though, he pisses me off a little. I thought I did alot of reading, research and spent a good deal of time in the trenches (I coach 2 teams damn it!). This dude does more reading and writes god damn research, on top of going for his PhD in New Zealand and being a personal trainer out there. Brilliant asshole...
I've seen services like this before and I signed up for one. It is roughly the same price but more geared towards physical therapist, as are most of the ones I saw. I signed up for a 3 month trial with them and got through all their S&C stuff in 2 hours most of it was on injures and disease, shit I'm not really going to use.
I'm very excited for this service and I think it's two great minds running it. I highly suggest checking out their blogs as they usually have extremely informative posts. Chris has some mind blowing interviews too.
Again, check out the service. It's $1 for a trial month until the end of the week then it's $10 a month after that. I'm in no way affiliated with this, I just know if these guys are involved it's going to be great stuff.
