Alfred State Update 4/23/11

We were at SUNY Geneseo this weekend

Mo didn't come because she cares about family more than track. Isn't she obnoxious?

Will did well in hammer again, not much to report from the other events. During warm ups he found a new gear. He entered so fast on his first turn that he was out of control after he touched down. He ended up throwing 34.00m but with a little work I think he could do much better. A little balance and control work and he'll be surprised how fast he really is.

Andy crashed and burned. Again he lost the mental game. When he starts to breakdown he doesn't take advice well, so I sat back and waited for him to ask for help. He never came over, even in the break between prelim and finals. He ended up with high 39 or low 40. He fell down 4 out of 6 throws and all 10 of his throws (warm ups included) looked the same, expect for speed. He tries too hard to throw, which breaks his technique down, he gets anxious of not having a good throw in so tries even harder starting the cycle over. This has been happening all year and he refuses to work on fixing it.

Chris finally clicked.  Every throw looked better and the one prior. He started on a real bad note, then hit 40.01 and finished at 42.66 on a bad release. The throw looked like the Chris I've been expecting all year. He's sitting in a void though, currently he's in 6th overall for nationals and 4th is Andy at 46, so he'll need at least 4-6 more meters to get into the top 3.

Two more weeks and I think they'll really have great results coming up. The last two years I've done gotten some great end of the year peaks out of my athletes, so I'm hoping that trend continues.

Another quick note I'll be posting 5 days a week starting Monday.  I was going to start this week but forgot all about it.  I'll do 4 this week.  That's why today is my team update instead of my normal dribble.
